Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Patinos Personal Lawyers Pty Ltd (A.C.N. 661 629 063) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our website at patinos.com.au — what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy covers the website only. If you become a client, the way we handle information in the course of acting for you is governed by our client engagement documents, our duty of confidentiality and our professional obligations as a law firm.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry. Our online enquiry form asks for your first and last name, email address, phone number, your preferred office, how you heard about us, and a description of what has happened and how we may be able to help. You choose what to tell us — please only include content you are comfortable sending by email.

When you subscribe to our newsletter. We collect your email address.

Automatically, when you browse. Like most websites, ours records technical information about your visit — your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site or search that referred you. This comes from our hosting and security provider and from website analytics.

There are no client logins, accounts or payment facilities on this website, and we do not collect payment details through it.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • respond to your enquiry and arrange an initial discussion with the right office;
  • assess whether we can assist you, and how;
  • send you our newsletter;
  • keep the website secure and working properly, and understand how visitors use it so we can improve it.

Enquiries are treated confidentially. The details you send through the enquiry form are stored securely in our website’s database (hosted with Cloudflare) as well as emailed to our office, and are seen only by the staff who need to see them in order to respond to you. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are necessary for the site to function and to protect it from automated abuse. Others are analytics cookies set through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4, which help us understand things like how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us. This information is used in aggregate — we do not use it to identify you personally.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them, though some parts of the site may not work as well as a result. To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites, you can install Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Who we share information with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the website. They may handle your information only for the purpose of providing their service to us:

  • Cloudflare — website hosting, security and bot protection. Our enquiry form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm submissions come from a person rather than an automated script.
  • Resend — the email service that delivers enquiry form submissions to our office.
  • Intuit Mailchimp — the platform we use to manage newsletter subscriptions and send newsletters.
  • Google — website analytics (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager).

We may also disclose personal information where we are required or authorised to do so by law.

Overseas disclosure

Some of these providers store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By using our enquiry form or subscribing to our newsletter, you consent to your information being disclosed to these overseas recipients. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers with appropriate security and privacy commitments, but overseas recipients may be subject to laws that differ from Australian privacy law.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our website is served over an encrypted connection, and access to enquiry emails is limited to staff who need it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please bear that in mind when sending us information online.

How long we keep information

We keep website enquiries for as long as we reasonably need them — to respond to you, and to meet our record-keeping and professional obligations. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained for a limited period in line with our analytics settings. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or remove identifying details.

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter we send.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We will usually respond within 30 days. In some circumstances we may need to refuse a request — if that happens, we will explain why in writing.

Complaints

If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can look into it. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond as quickly as we reasonably can.
